The guys that did my tint (20%) told me that the, and I quote, "stupid little dots on the windows f*** with the tint." If you're lucky it will settle into the grooves and even out but most likely there will be some ugly spots in that area. Mine has settled in pretty nicely but there are one or two miniscule spots where it looks like the tint didn't come into contact with the glass around some of the dots.

Im goign to get my tints next week (coupe). I need some advice, should I get 30% all around ( with 35% in the rear window because thats the limit in MD) or should i have the small side windows 20%. im not sure if the contrast between the door windows and back windows will kill the tint layout

An experienced shop that does good work should able to apply tint to the matrix. Mine came out perfectly.

Some shops lightly sand it down to allow the tint to adhere closer to the glass. Some also apply a vinyl strip.

As far at the tint %'s go, Stick with what's legal in your state. It's a waste of money (and a pain in the a$$) to have to rip it out when you get a ticket for it. When the tint shops here in CA put the tint on the back window, They use a heat gun to "melt" the tint across the dots, and make sure the tint sticks to the window. If they didn't, when it reaches 110+ like it does here during the summer, any air left in that area heats up, and makes a ugly bubble.

Hey guys, im getting my coupe tinted tomorrow and I plan on asking the tint shop a bunch of questiosn and this just adds to the list lol(lifetime warranty though). I remember reading on here somethign about metallic tint screwing up the bluetooth system. Then I read that the non metallic tint tends to fade? Is this a lose lose situation...sorry dont mean to thread jack

some ppl said metallic tint may interfere with your radios, as the top few lines of the back window are antenna wires. The Doc had metalic and he said his radio works fine

i'm not sure where the bluetooth antenna is on the car but I don't think it is the same as the radio antenna so you should not have any issues.

Yah I posted a thread on this last summer, and I've had my tint since august....I still have a few ripples in each of the corners of the top of the rear window...according to tintking, they said they'd do their best to fix it, but it actually adhered quite well....they told me it won't be perfect, that alot of ppl who come back with tint matrix problems and get it done again are usually regretting it the second time around because the first time it stuck nicely....don't get me wrong, 95% of the window looks great and the adhered well to the dot matrix for the most part....but its those little ripples in the sides that still get to me now and then.....meh....wtf can you do...I have lifetime warranty..so if it starts getting ugly in the summer or something I'll go back and make them fix it or redo it.

Tyler, where did you get your tint done?

I'm not happy with mine, 3 scratches from install, plus a ripple by the Nissan logo on the back window, and a scratch on the drives side window. When i took it back the guy said "You can't expect perfection in an after-market product" he said he'd fix it, but I'm not going back to a place with that attitude.

I just got 20% put on mine. The back does look alittle bad. I am going to give it a little time, but if not the Tint shop I deal with has no problems fixing stuff like this. Any good shop should warranty their work against bubbles and stuff.
