I'm finally getting my 05' coupe tinted this friday ( it feels like an oven when I open the door with the black on black) and was looking for any advice or tips anyone had for me. The most reputable place I've found around me is Rogers Stereo. Dont know if anyone has had work done there or even if there is one in your area but its worth a shot. Anyway Ive heard there's sometimes problems because of the massive dot matrix band on the rear winshield which causes the tint to delaminate over time. Rogers will only go up to the matrix but not over it and im wondering if its gonna be a noticeable line around the back windshield. Anyone have a tint that stops at the dot matrix, and more importantly hows it look?

I have had my tint on my car since day 1 and I have not had any problems with the tint covering my back window. If it is done right and the right tint is used you should not have any problems. Also the place I went to, it is in Southern California, would remove the side tint if I got pulled over and would put it back on for free once I got the ticket signed off. I would check around because a good tint will last 4 or 5 years if taken care of.

A good tint shop will likely use a vinyl sticker material over this area. The dots can pose a problem over time allowing trapped air to expand and cause bubbling. This was done on mine and you can't see this area of the window through the rear view and unless you look closely, you'll never notice it from the outside.

I had a ten year tint job on the '95 J30 I had and it covered the dots on the back window fine without ever bubbling. It was a great tint job.

Now I have an '05 coupe and while the dealer had it tinted it also covers the whole back window with no problem. DO NOT let them tint the window half way up! For one reason it looks ghetto and for another reason there is simply no reason to do that if the tint shop is a good one.

My only advice would to be certain it is a metallic type of tint. This lasts longer and will not ever turn colors, like purple.

Also, if you have a radar detector ( I have a valentine) the metallic tint does not interfere with the tint like everyone says. I have nver had a problem with that either.

Just my $0.02.

I too live in Grvl,SC! Small Infiniti world... I too have been looking at tint locations and I am thinking about using Master Car Stereo down near Clevland Park. Only downside is that they only tint on Wednesday's and Friday's. They told me they use a product called Llumar (SP?). Anyone heard of it? Just a FYI they quoted me $165 for my 06 Sedan. How much did Rogers want?

See you on the street!

they said about the same as you've been quoted. at least that was the retail but he said hed cut me a deal from hooking up so many things for my boss at rec warehouse, so i dont know what the final price will be. I think im gonna go ahead with them since ive gotten good recomendations for them as long as they can give me an assuranced that it can be removed if im not happy with the way it looks. On a side note I talked to Tom today (the service guy at bradshaw) and he said to make sure to get a thin (not neccessarily light) tint on the side windows because there are sensors (i guess they work in conjunction with the flange when you open the door and the window slightly goes down to clear it) and if it senses an obstruction like a thick tint film they will keep lowering themselves. Dont know if that will affect your situation but i thought id throw it out there since any knowledge is helpful.

Llumar is good film.

I also agree with everything J-Owner posted. Tinting the back window just up to the dots is uber weaksauce.
