Ok so I'm very happy with my Versa but I feel that since I had an SUV before I am used to more privacy since it's higher up, I feel like everyone can just see into small cars, so anyone got any advice for me? I want to find a place that has good quality, lifetime warranty tint, any type of bad tint job will upset me greatly.

What materials should the tint be?Good Brands?Good Tint shop in the Los Angeles area?Any Tinted Versas that can tell me how dark you went with the tint?Any other tips?

I'm totally clueless about this..........

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3M makes great tint, but I do not know of any tinters in the area that use 3M tint. I have 35% on the rears, but it is going to get removed and 35% in the front windows, and limo on the rears, that would be the best privacy you could get, and without cops being d***s and ticketing you for it. In the LA area, there is one tint shop that I think was the best job I had seen, which is Q Autosound out in Bellflower on Artesia and Ardmoor if I remember right, it is just off of the 91 off of the Bellflower exit, they would probably charge about $175 all the way around, and probably $200 with a sun strip on the windshield, I don't have the number in my phone anymore otherwise I would give it to you, but they do offer lifetime on their tint.

A question for all you tinters. Those who have tinted the front windows did you also tint the little triangular ports?

Found a place called sun-tech that does 3M tint only, been doing it for 20+ years and offers a lifetime guarantee. I think I will go with this place, hoping to get it done within the next week or 2, excited.

Thanks for everyone's input, I hope it goes well. I'll let you guys know what I think after I get it, I'm thinking 35%ish.

Still waiting for the dealer to stock the fogs...I won't be able to do it by myself, they told me maybe after the first quarter, they would come in......

if you are only doing the rear passengers, and hatch windows, do the next step above 35%, or even limo if you like it, here in Cali, 35% is not worth it, trust me, if you would like, we can meet up so you can see what 35% looks like on the V in person since I live in the LA area. I dont know you, but I think you will be that much happier with the next step up the way summers are here in LA. Just a thought

I don't think there's any factory tint, but the front and rear windshields are UV coated. I'm not sure if the side windows have the UV coating. The glass does have a very faint tint, but its most likely this came from tempering the glass.

Clipsed thanks for your offer

I looked at my friend's Mustang and the medium tint looks decent, not sure what exact % it is.

I am going with an all around tint, but not sure about the visors in the front [does it look funny] ????, do need the triangles tinted though. Based on my research 3M has several different tint lines. So if 30% is available then I may go with that but I think 20% maybe too much for me. I have bad night vision, I almost kill myself when I snowboard at night, I only go in the day now.

Anyone have any idea what SUVs come with, I had tint already on mine and I never thought about %s. I would like something similar and I don't think that stock tint comes too dark, seems like it would be in the 30s as well, anyone know?

Maybe sometime we can have a So. Cal Versa meetup..........

Also, I really want my Fogs so seeing a V with Fogs will make me blue.... [ok not quite this dramatic]

Thanks again, need to make my appointment soon!

Rear windows in SUV's are usually around 20%. Where I live, you can't get your front's tinted to match, as the legal limit for front side windows is 35%.

Of course, you guys in California, Arizona, and New Mexico have a little more freedom given how much sun you get.

Sounds good, yea 30-35% would be perfect, it really is not dark, it is very light, and at night does not make a big difference in the sense of making it harder to see, the difference is very faint if any at all. If I could I would trade ya windows, because they are charging me an arm and a leg to remove it and put LIMO when they should do it for free! oh well I guess. Hopefully you never see me on the streets, I dont want you to start crying when you see my fogs hehe jp. How much are they going to charge you to do the tint? If they are going to charge you more than $200 then that is too much! I am sure you can find somewhere with 3m at around $150 for triangles back, unless of course you get a sun strip on the windshield, but remember that the strip can only be 4 inches wide to be legal.

Actually you would be suprised how much freedom we don't have with tint. Most cops are pretty nice, since anything above 30% is illegal, BUT most cops do not bother you as long as they can see in the front windows without any problems, so 50% is about perfect, anything more you are risking a ticket.

50% darker than 30%? Do you guys measure by light blocked as opposed to light transmitted?

35% is our legal limit for front side windows. 20% (significantly darker) is legal on rear side and rear windows. 5% (limo) is illegal on everything except limousines. We rate using VLT (Visible Light Transmitted).

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in. Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used. Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN WASHINGTON?

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in. Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in. Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in.

CONCLUSION: CA more lenient on the back, WA more lenient on the front

Well got me 20% in the rears, 35% in the front and triangles, and even got sunshades too. They seem bigger then 4 inches so I hope I don't get any trouble for it, but I have been dying since I have had the sun in my eyes from the front top and side top windows, so I can only use the visor on one side and am blinded on the other side. Seems silly that you can get in trouble if it is thinner then the visors that come on the V. I'm happy the tint looks sleek and I even have 3M logos all around to guarantee the film. I can remove the logos with a wipe. Haven't driven at night yet, hope I'll be ok, when I was shown the sample, 35% seemed so light but on my V it looks dark with the front 35%, maybe because of the interior color. The 35% and 20% blend very nicely, can harly tell it's different unless I'm outside the car looking in, much harder to see in the back. So far I'm diggin it.

Just picked my Versa up from the tinting people. Had them put 35/20 and it looks great.

Luckly they classify the Versa in the mini-van class due to my hatchback and I could have gotten even darker on the back two doors and hatch if I wanted to. I am in the senior age crowd and didn't trust my night vision to go with 10%. The don't do the little front window but it is hardly noticable.
