Over the past couple of days I have notice a tin can rattle noise coming from the front of my car. I thought it was the back seeing as this has been the sound described my some as the fuel pump going bad. But after I just moved my car just now, I realized its 100% from the front. I put the car in park and the noise goes away. In park I would move the steering wheel to the left and right no noise. But when I have the car in any other gear the noise comes back and it now is very loud. Any ideas what could be making this noise. A friend driving with me said it sounded like my power steering pump.

Thank you max. If it turns out to be this, what is the remedy?

Thanks Max, I did some research just now. I guess I would need to get the shield spot welded or clamp them down.

Or just remove it. Amusingly, it started making noise on my brother's S13 convertible. One day, it just fell off. Problem solved.

Just don't park on dry grass.

Spotwelding is a much better solution unless you are racing.

The good part is I am no longer a fast driver and really don't take it over 70. Spot welding may be the way to go.

That would way to risky here in Southern Cali. Even driving and getting caught in traffic could end up causing a brush fire. Then I'd be in allot of trouble. I'd rather do the mettle ties or spot weld, which eve comes first.

Sometimes you can just tighten the bolts that hold them on. Kind of a find the rattle and then figure out how to fix it deal.
