Hey guys, I know this might look like it belongs in the nissan mechanic thread, but so far I have had no luck there, so I am asking you people in the 240sx forum, because I am sure some of you have seen the inside of a SOHC, have changed the timing chain, and know the answer to my question.I know this has been covered in a few threads before, but none of them were very clear.
I want to know from someone who knows exactly what I am asking for to answer this: On a 1990 Nissan 240SX, when the engine is at ZERO degrees top dead center, as in, the crank pulley red notch (the second from the left, if looking at the engine from the front) is aligned with the needle on the block, and the number one piston is UP, what should the position of the keymark on the cam sprocket be? Should it be pointing at 12 o'clock? Should it be pointing at 9 o'clock? Should it be pointing at 3 o'clock? As far as I understand this situation is unique, and cannot be 180 degrees off because there is only one position those two gears can be in, when the number one cylinder is up and the engine is at 0 degrees TDC. I need the answer desperatly, I have looked in the FSM, there are no clues to answer this question there.
