Timing

I need to find out how to realign the timing on this vg30e engine...was doing the timing belt and the passenger cam gear I believe made a quarter of a turn and now I cant line up the timing marks on both cam gears with the backing plate notches...IN NEED OF SERIOUS ADVICE....I know these are interferance motors and the last thing I want to do is bend some valves...

Why can't you get it to align? You just rotate the cam by and and then slip on the belt. It's in a loaded position, but it does rest at equilibrium if you're careful and don't bump it much.

The marks on the cover are just for reference and to get the gears close. Once they're aligned, you use the lines on the belt to make sure you're set properly.
