I would say after 7-8 psi, assuming you're running an efficient intercooler and 93 octane gas.

Because at that logic, if you were running 16 psi of boost, you'd have 8 degrees retard, or a base timing of 12 deg. btdc, which is absurd.

i'd go with what orion says, for a stock compression engine running over 10 psi, i say retarding .75 degree per psi is fine. my jwt is running 17-18 degrees of total timing at redline when i'm running 14 psi. which is about right. and when i try to advance it alittle more, i pick up knock readings on my safcII.

you should retard it, i mean its better to be safe then sorry right?

and rseabrook, i didn't get a chance to dyno yet, some unexpected expenses started to pile up such as a minor collish with a car to my door ( no fault cuase my door hit the side of his car ) and i needed new tires, and i needed to fix my a/c. i'm gonna wait till like the end of summer when it cools down get dynoed.

Timing? You ask 10 people you will get 10 different answers.

Imo...Stock timing should be kept only if running water injection with high octane fuel (91-93)

.5 for every lb of boost is the most common and seems to work well for everyone.
