When I retard timing with the emanage I am alittle confused.

Should I retard it .75 deg per psi over 8. So at 8 psi I would start retarding it ( 8 =-.75, 9=-1.5, 10=-2.25...........)

or

Start at 1 psi and retard it .75 deg per psi(1=-.75, 2=-1.5, 3=-2.25........)

I am a little confused.

Josh

I have not said retard so much since talking to my sisters kids

Yes it does, either by load or by using the pressure sensor.

if im only running 8-9lbs then i guess retarting the base timing by 2 degrees is a little to much huh?

2 degrees isnt TOO much, but its safe. your power when not in boost will be a bit sluggish but u should be fine.

Depends on a lot of things.

Anything that can affect the mixture burn quality such as:-intercooler efficiency-engine temp-inlet air temp-turbo efficiency at specified boost-a/f ratio-exhaust backpressure-fuel octaneprobably more i cant think of at 1am..

In other words if you have a full system you can run a little more timing. If you have just a half-baked homebrew turbo kit with a small turbo and a SR SMIC you wont be able to get as much without detonating. It all depends, unfortunately.

If you have the best of everything in that list I would say you can run 8psi without retarding timing. However, if, for example you have everything except high octane gas (you can only run 91 octane), you will be wanting to retard timing at least a couple of degrees.

check out kennebell.net in the tech section there is a great article in there that relates timing/a/f ratio/octane/temps to the amount of boost you can run.

I used a restrictor so the BTM "sees" boost after 5 psi.I have a JWT ECUthe BTM is for safety

im trying to figure this out as well, the jwt ecu will retard the timing will the enthalpy also cuz thats what im looking at running feedback would be nice. and do u think getting a btm would be a good idea 4 safety

the jim wolf and enthalpy's tuned ecus will both retard the timing. jwt will pull more timing than enthalpy. if your concerned with safetly the jwt is most likely more safe as far as timing. but you will not make as much power as some of the tunes ive seen enthalpy do becuase his tune takes out less timing and use less fuel. however this info is coming from both the companies sr tunes.
