I just put a new metal headgasket and a ARP headbolts in my SR20DET. I had to take the timing chain off and now I have a few questions that the FSM isn't answering for me. So I lined the chain up with the mark on the crank and the marks on the cam gears, and I counted the rollers across the top of the chain and they were just what the FSM said 20 rollers and 56 down the side with the tensioner. I can't count the ones on the other side of the motor because the head and the guide are in the way. Anyway to the question Should the silver links match up to the cam marks everytime around and the same with the gold link should it match up everytime the motor is turned over???? sorry for the length and Thanks

Nope. Just when you first set it all up. Crank it over by hand once and it won't line up anymore.
