Timing Questions 95 KA24DE Automatic

3:20am and I can't sleep because I would like to get to the bottom of this. I can promise you that I have been researching this timing topic for at least 3 - 4 hours.

This is what I did; zer...ssues

Question #1 About Timing;After installing the dis back on TDC do you now move the crank and align it to 20 degrees?

Note: After hours of trying to start my car I aligned the shaft markers to my shaft indent and installed it at TDC, and started the car, the idle seems fine but the response sluggish.

Question #2 Timing Light;May some one explain this to me as if I had no knowledge of what I am doing?

(I've read the tutorials but I still don't get it, please be as detailed as possible)

if you are on the right tooth, you just move the dist until you get the best sounding idle. you dont need a timing light. if it is really sluggish, you have it on the wrong tooth or you have another issue.

Well I got bored, and could not fall asleep, plus I had a led flash light I've been waiting to use at night.

Luckly, I made a mark on my distributor mount.

Drunk girl walks by and tells her friend "that guy's car has a problem" pauses "he's working on it at 4 am"... (priceless)

So, I put the crank at Top Dead Center (TDC), then moved it to the 20 degree, which is the last marking on the crank, the 6th marking. Then moved the distributor to the marking I had made on the mount before I removed my timing chain guides.

Took it out for a spin, and it runs "very nice". =)

I bought the timing light, so I might as well use it now... just to double check my work or to advance it to 25.
