I've completely rebuilt my engine, bored, balanced, upped compression and all of the other internal and bolt on goodies. I also have the nistune setup and innovate wideband and am now messing with timing to get my power more focused on the top end. Also i am looking for a reputable hydraulic to solid lifter conversion, hybrid ka didn't work out so well for me so any others recommendations would be great to get closer to or safely break the 7g mark, and then hopefully beyond if someone can make a fully counterweighted crank for under 2 grand.
With the SOHC i have only found one cam that is adjustable and it does it by using little round pieces that plug into the cam sproket, not really sure how they work, but no matter. Anyway my understanding is that for higher rpm power because everything is moving so much faster the car runs more efficiently by advancing the timing. I also believe that i can do this both mechanically and electrically, i.e cam timing and ignition/dizzy timing.
So first off am i right on this, and if so after checking with a light that my cam and crank timing are dead on at #1 tdc what are some advance recommendations or things that you have experimented with, like 5 degrees or more. Is this more or less a trial and error situation and how far is too far. Also should i advance the dizzy to match or just leave it at the stock timing.
I realize this will adversely affect my gas mileage, but its more of a toy and not dd, so i wanna sqeeze all the ponies i can outta er
thanks
