So I hooked up the solus pro scan tool from snap on to my 92 300zx tt yesterday, and I was looking at stuff on it just making sure everything looked normal and I noticed at idle it was at about 28 degrees btdc... but as soon as I touched the gas it went to 14-16 kinda hard to tell cause it moved in the range quickly... is this normal? Could this cause really rich at idle?

And also any inputs on to what could cause this?

I'm getting a new harness soon so I am hoping this fixs most of my issues.

This is normal, as your engine warms up, it should approach 15deg.

You might have a bad coolant temp sensor, it will through off timing.

Have you checked for error codes yet?

Yea i read codes with the solus i forgot to put that, i had ect and egr codes (egr code from egr delete). Replaced ect, code hasnt came back so far. I havent had the chance to check it again cause it snowed :(

It definately ran better with a new ect.

Also ordered a czp ecu hopefully that cleans it up some more, debating whether to run those 12.5 psi jets or not haha considering I do need to do a little more maintenance first. just a couple more fluids then maybe timing belt in the next 10k it was done at nissan about 30k miles ago.

ECU Didn't do much, I really dont want to run these boost jets until i figure this out. I think I might take it to Nissan and see what they can do!

I cant seem to figure this out, I pulled plugs yesterday all of them look pretty much identical after 500 miles :/

But I hooked it up to the scan tool, at idle fully warmed up, timing was spot on 15 btdc, but the o2 signals were pretty much as lean as they could possibly read. on a scale of 0-1000mv they were coming in at 10mv at idle. It kinda scares me. But it smells really rich :/

If your O2 readings are always low, then you're running lean, which is bad: http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/f ... -Size.html

I'd take it anywhere but a Nissan dealership. They don't know their heads from their asses on these cars. It's quite possible you could throw them a lot of money and get it back worse than you gave it to them.

Sorry their not always low, only at idle as soon as I give it a little gas they bounce around somewhat like they should.

I'm just sick of the misfire its pissing me off, I'm running downpipes test pipes stock midpipe and no axle back and it sounds gurgly and s*** at idle... it might just be the exhaust lol but idk i never hear it pop like a backfire its just when I'm cruising at like 60 or so it feels like its misfiring but it never pops unless i run it to redline then it kinda pops... idk...

it feels comparable to driving straight into 50mph gusts like something keeps pushing the car back

I dealt with 2 issues that were kind of similar. 1) I put the timing belt back on without counting the teeth. I was one tooth off at the crank, which caused weird problems, like misfires and stumbles/hesitation above like half throttle 2) My spark plugs weren't right for the boost levels I was running. A TT with stock boost should be running NGK PFR6B-11B. SpecialtyZ recommends NGK BKR7EIX for running up to 16lbs of boost. Made a huge difference for me.

Yea i just put the pfr6b-11b's in gapped at .45 or .045 lol i forget but im still on stock boost atm... so maybe timing belt. I need to actually check timing the scan tool could be off i guess

my clutch started slipping last night so thats priority #1 right now
