timing problems

we have been working on this car for our friend its an s14 we swap factory motor out for factory the car ran great till battery died. Then went to start back up no fire so we figured the distrubuter was bad so we swapped that out now he are having a hell of a time getting it back in time anything anyone can suggest us trying to do ... it would be much apperciated.

Put #1 cylinder at TDC compression. Look at distributor and marked where the #1 cylinder post lines up on the case. With the rotor on install the distributor so that the rotor points to the mark while still lining up with your bolt holes. Reinstall plug wires is proper order and fire it up. Then use a timing light set your timing. There now you know how to set up your timing.

*NOTE* If you took the pickup wheel in the base of the distributor apart( The disc with all the slots.) This will not work unless you have it lined up correctly. If not, sucks to be you!
