Cam sensor is all the way advanced but timing still reads slightly retarded. Boggs once and a while and the car runs really lean. I have to richen up the fuel a lot just to start. If anyone can help i would really appreciate it. Thanks

A timing light was used. Timing was slightly retarded but the cas was advanced all the way. The rb25 was recently installed. I have pretty much everything stock with the exception of a greddy intake manifold, metal head gasket, boost controller, fuel controller, fmt intercooler, and fuel pump. I had to increase the fuel by 20 units on my Apexi SAFC to run right. If i put the settings at stock than it boggs big time. I'm only boostin 10 lbs. on a stock turbo. If I try to adjust the cas more towards the center than it won't rev past 5000 rpms. Aside from the bogging the engine feels smooth but not really powerful. I had an SR before this and it felt a whole lot better. Do you think i might have a bad cas or maf?

you still arnt telling us the most important part the NUMBERS!what i do when i set timing is unplug the battery, set the cas to the 'middle' position and reset the ecuthen i time the car as manual specifies, and go for a spirited drive to let the car learn my driving charcteristics.

That is what i did but the timing mark on the crank pully read that the timin was really retarded when the cas was set in the "middle". I preceeded to adjust the cas so that the timing mark on the crank pully was set to as close to stock spec as i could get it. I did pull the tps plug.

NO SIR!!!!!!! Take off the timing belt cover and rotate the crank pulley untill the intake and exhaust cams align to the 2 dots on the back of the timing cover. I had this exact same problem and it ended up being that my belt had slipped a tooth on the exhaust side and my engine ran like *** for months untill the guys on this board helped me figure it out. Start there.

I was afraid that might also be the problem. even though u had that problem, did your car run like **** all the time or only some times? i'll check the timing belt and see if it might had slipped. thanks

i am having this problem on my rb20. the shop that set my timing said the car feels like its "a tooth off" . advancing the cas did fix my problem, but i really should check the gears. does anybody have some sort of diagram of what i need to look for after removing the cam cover?

Take off the uppr timing belt cover to expose the camgears. On the sides of the back plate you will see two marks. On each cam you will see a dot. rotate the crank until each of those dots align. Then look at the crank pully, the orange timing mark will align with a mark on the lower timing cover that is about at 2 o'clock.ref: http://www.livesockets.com/quo...x.htmh ... .x.htmgood site.

I checked the timing belt and unfortunately everthing looks good. So I have replaced the cas sensor and so far everything is running good. I do get a lil hesitation once and a while but at least the timing readings are normal. I am gonna try to re-gap the spark plugs to see if that will get rid of the hesitation. Appreciate all of ur help and i hope this will help out someone in the future.

For the most part yes it was a bad cas. I have definetly noticed a difference since i have replaced my cas.
