I just bought a '93 Infinity J30 with 119k on it. While tuning it up last night (plugs, oil, filters, belts, timing belt, etc), I broke the crankshaft pulley with a gear puller. It broke on both sides while pulling off. I did the timing belt and put everytjing back together, but now the car runs like crap and I know my timing marks were on point. The car sounds really rough with alot of hesitation. When in nuetral or drive It wont respond to me stepping on the gas. In drive it might go about 3-5 mph. Could the broken crankshaft pulley be the culprit messing with the crank position sensor?

Thanks in advance for any and all answers...

Vacuum leaks, all hoses put back on? Mas Air flow meter connected properly?

I have not removed the pully but I would think it is keyed to prevent putting it on wrong so I really suspect a connector not on or a vacuum leak or the MAF not connected.

Go over everything again, take a step back from it as frustration is blinding so being relaxed will definately help finding the problem

Also probably a good idea to replace pulley when you can as it is not balanced now and will cause engine vibration.

Yeah, not real clear...you broke the pulley, but only slightly such that it's still useable? You broke part of the pulley belt channel flange? Or have you already replaced the whole pulley? I agree with juiceman--it should be keyed, check your MAF connection.

Did'nt think of the belt being put on correctly

Do you have the manual? real important to put belt on right. From hwat I have found on this and other sites is that one tooth will cause the car to run rough but two will start breaking things.

Check for all the connections hoses and maf and if this is all ok then pull covers and inspect the belt
