Hey, just got done reinstalling my timing belt. My engine started up fine and smooth..only thing tho...i hear a metallica rubbing type of noise which seems to come from within the timing chamber. Think thats my bearing? Maybe I put it on too tight? i'll go ahead and open it up and check it out..but any ideas for when i get back in there? Thanks

Just ask for a timing belt for a 1988-90 Pulsar SE with CA18DE.

What Myetball said. 95% of the oem parts for our motors come from 88-90 1.8 Pulsars.

Really, which song? my CA always sounded like Lords of Acid. It sounds like your tensioner and or idler pulley bearings went bad. When I do RB and CA timing belts I release the nut so the tensioner springs tight then lever it tighter with the allen wrench and let it settle back before tightening the nut, never had one get stupid on me.

If your tensioner is working properly you don't need to apply any more tension. Themadscientist method sounds pretty good.
