15 deg +- 2 according to the FSM which is the second mark from the right.

Each mark is 5 deg

hehe mine has problems. mine runs fine other than idling at 2000rpm. no detonation even hot days with stock everything and 3" DP + exhaust. when i shoot my advance gun with the pickup around the #1 cyl's loop, all the dots appear on the bottom of the crank. i know the O2 and TPS sensors are bad. possibly others. when i tried to put the crank position sensor so that the dots appear at the top so i could time it, it wouldn't run. hrmmm . . .

hey guys, i learned a nice trick for getting the timing right. get a spark plug wire from an SE-R (or any plug wire with a long enough boot to get down to the SR20DET's plugs) and connect the boot to the #1 plug. then take the lead off the back (top end, when installed) off a spark plug and splice it onto the other end of the spark plug wire in place of the dizzy connector. then connect your SR's #1 coil pack to the end of the custom spark plug wire you just made. now your car will fun fine, and you can put the inductive pickup around the spark plug wire instead of the loop at the back of the valve cover. it's a lot more consistent. my car now runs fine, not like a half-@$$ed project car.

well i just figured i'd help some people out. i had never heard of it until recently, and i found it gave a much more consistent reading than the loop by the back of the valve cover. i thought that's what this forum was about, right?

sorry, my humor can be quite sardonic at times. I didn't mean that as a personal attack. These boards are meant to be a help, and I'm happy that you're helping.

copper plugs are like $10/set for SR20DET. why not try those before ordering a $75+ coil?
