If the tension on the belt, without the tensioner touching it, is already tight, I'd be worried that somebody gave you the wrong belt. I'd remove it and start by first checking that is has the correct number of teeth. I believe it's suppose to have 228 teeth. Check the technical manual. It also lists the correct number of teeth between each pulley. Also verify that the belt has the correct pitch for that number of teeth (hence the overall length).
