Say we switch over to a standalone computer system, SDS is most likely going to be my choice. Using the MAP senor instead of MAF.

I'm familiar with building a fuel map based on boost, but have never built a timing map for on and off boost driving. I've done some reading but haven't really sat down and try'd to figure it out. Anyone have any pointers or experience.

This is on a drag car that will see boost around the 4500 mark, boost will be about 30lbs.

I'd probably try and get a hold of a datalogger and log what the ECU does at various loads and RPMs. There are a lot of variables but airflow vs RPM will probably be most significant.

its already been done courtesy of Enthalpy.here's a stock KA24DE ignition timing map (load vs rpm)SAVE TARGET ASMAP Whenever you buy a SDS EM, they provide a sample timing map just to get it going.

Yeah if you need some more help, go to Freshalloy.com or Tamparacing.com and message Enthalpy. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you out.

Is that a map of the SOHC, I notice it starts at 15* instead of 20*?

its the DOHC. The map starts at 600 rpms whereas base timing is set at 700 rpms with TPS unplugged.I assume you'll just have to change the higher load part of the map (transition to peak tq all the way to redline). At peak tq (highest cylinder pressure, this will be your lowest timing number through the boost curve and then after peak tq, you can add 2 degrees of timing all the way up to redline)I can tell you for my JWT ecu, I'm seeing timing numbers of 14-17 degrees WOT all depending on water temps, mafs voltage, etc.

I'll be calling you when I do the tuning, thx for the input.

Any suggestions for a good scanner/datalogger?

your welcome.i have picked up a few things from standalone people-mainly from Enthalpy and some of his maps he has provided. I trust him.I would call him or talk to him on AIM-his name is enthalpy1200.I suppose LM-1 wideband with datalogging capabilities would be the best.
