Timing light!

I have my friends timing light and I'm looking to time a single cam. Can someone enlighten me as to how to do this?

No offence, but if you're not sure how to, don't. Find someone who is versed in this and get him/her to help you out, if not just stand over your shoulder. If you f*** up the timing, you can do some interesting damage to your engine, not to mention it'll run like kaka...
