Just past 2 days ago, I was done installing my cam seal on my camshaft. Align my timing and everything up. Rotate 4 times, to make sure cam gear and pully line up with back black plate and everything was fine. When i got done i started up the motor and it fired right up. Then yesterday, I decide to start the motor and fix my water and oil gauge. While it started on the first try again, for a good 45 sec, i herd a chatter noise by the cam and I turn off the car. I thought it was the crack angle sensor grinding onto the exhaust camshaft bolts but it wasn't. So reinstall it all back together and attempt to start it up. Now it doesn't start. Then I check my timing again and my intake camgear was off, and my exhaust side was on the mark along with the pully. I was just wondering if any og you will no what cause this issue and what might of happend?

The car started before, bout a month ago, but never ran it at the moment. It was leaking oil through the cam seal so I decide to order new cam seal and it finally arrive on Friday. Install n fired it up on Saturday, idel bout good 5 minute. Then Sunday morning, fired it up n ran less then 45 sec then noises came on. Used 1/2 wrach and socket and rotate the block, and timing was off. Now just won't start when I crack it. So what could be the cause? Anyone

It was tighten with the tensioner. Today I manged to start up my car again after aligning my intake cam gear into the timing mark plate. When it started it idel fine, for good 4-5 min, then I attempt to throttle it for 3-4 times then it happens again. So wat is causing this problem? Now intake cam gear is off timing mark when it's in top dead center. The exhaust cam gear and pully are right on the mark when it gets rotate.

It has to be a tension issue unless something is wrong with your intake cam gear. Belt should have 90 degrees of twist in it. if its more, the belt is too loose, if its less its too tight. Is this an RB25 with vtc?

I bought new idler and new tension, so I think that wouldnt be the problem or maybe can it be I install the tension wrong? The spring from the tension is settling ontop of the pin mounting, what ever that this is called. So which way is right? Top or bottom, that the spring should set on?

Oh man..

Do you have a R33 service manual? It has specific instructions on how to set the tension of the RB25, its not an automatic lash adjusting tensioner like on some cars, it has to be set more manually.

 How did you know how to line up the timing marks if you didn't use the FSM?

My freind help show me to put the timing belts on when I first purchase the swap. That's how i remember. Yesterday I pull the intake cam off and dismounted the cam-gear, then I notice that the pin from the cam-shaft is broken off and got stuck onto the cam-gear. Would this be the problem why it keeps on slipping?
