So....my car feels like the motor is working hard, but im not getting anywhere too fast (and not its not because its and NA and not a TT :nono: ) after the timing belt install. The motor runs better than it ever has at idle. My dad moved the CAS adjustment back to the center, where as it had been more to the right....so could all this just be in the timing. Thats all i really did to the car you know. I figure ill go get a timing light and see....just wondering how much the timing being off really affects things.

Timing is HUUGEEE! Make sure you grab the timing light and hook it up to the #1 cylinder, the PTU loop has been known to be a little weird on some cars. Try both see what you come up with. In my experience if two marks come up, flip the pickup around.

its like the car is slow as ever under 2.5 rpm....then temporarily speed increase followed by slow go. Ill go get one of those timing lights....do i need the high tension leads or can i hook it to the coil wire?

The middle wire of the 3 wires going to the coil pack works well. Or you can make a high tension lead extension go to in between the spark plug and coil pack. Whichever you feel more comfortable with

i was under the assumption the clip went around the whole wire set going to the coil...hmmm so id have to cut back the insulation on the wires a little? I think i like the high tension lead a whole lot better....do they sell those or is that something im going to have to make, if so what size wire and connectors do i need (if you know) Thanks for your help so far.

Not cut back insulation, but just the protective sleeve that goes over the 3 wires. You may have enough room at the end closer to the connector to hook on without disturbing anything else.

I don't think it works when you hook over all 3 wires, I may be wrong...

It's something you would have to make, grab an old set of plug leads from a shop. I'm sure you can get it for free. Most every lead is the same size connector, high performance wires are a little thicker but doesn't matter.

Just to be complete, set it to 15 deg BTDC.
