Well I go tmy hands on a light and decided to put the car back in time to get rid of the miss it had. I let it warm up and I put the light on it at idle. Now the FSM says that the dot right before the last on the left is TDC. the light put the marker about a half inch AWAY from the markers on the left hand side. So I unplugged the Throttle Positioning Sensor and tried it again, same issue.

I can't get the dist. far enough retarded to get it where it should be. So I took the dist. and eased it out enough to move it around one tooth. put it back together and put the light on it again. now it was a half of inch AWAY on the right hand side... WTF??

I can't figure out what the hell is going on. the car runs decently but it has a miss. and its enough to shake the car a little. I'm trying to track it down but without getting a decent timing reading. the onl thing i can think of is take out the first plug and put a screwdriver in it then turn the crank over slowly tell I can get a TDC with the screwdriver, then mark the crank and go from there. Is there a secert handshake or something??

Sorry I cant help you with your problem because i couldnt read you whole post with out my eyes freaking out like the timing light was flashing in my face... weird.

I dont have too much experience with the ka but on my other car you had to rev it a bit for in order for the light to match TDC. I guess the other thing is make sure you had the light hooked up to the correct wire.

I would agree with EPD...edit your post to where we can read it a little better. With that said...I would start with #1 at TDC and check your mark. Then check to see if your light is hooked up right. I had trouble getting mine in time after my rebuild as well, but with patience you should get it. Good luck.
