I have 108K on my 2004 G35X and I've spent the better part of the week doing all of the 100K plus service. I took my car to a mechanic today who himself drives a Maxima thinking that he could do a good job. He changed out my old plugs (NGK Iridium) for a new set (NGK Double Platinum, his reccomendation) and after I got home my check engine light came on and my timing seems to be off. My car is struggling to find the right gear when I'm coming to a stop and the car is downshifting. The RPM gauge is jumping around and my performance is stutterish. Any ideas out there???? Do I just need him to adjust the timing or do we need to swap out the plugs all together??? Thanks.

i would make sure all the plug wires are properly attached. if so, then do ECU reset.

then if u still have an issue i would take it back to him and have him do new plugs.

ECU reset is done, plug wires are all seemingly OK. Now I get to take it back to the shop and wait wait wait. Thanks for the info none the less, I do appreciate it.

You know. I'd go with stock plugs. They will work just fine.

I dont know if the plugs are the problem, but I wouldn't recommend the double tip platinums. stick with the stock platinum tip or the iridium.
