I have a 2001 sentra gxe with a qg18de motor. I am trying to set the timing and I cannot figure it out. if i use the two links they don't line up to TDC so I am guessing i jumped some teeth. of the six marks, which is actually TDC the one all the way to the left/top/first one? can't i just set tdc and then put the cams in the right positions, even though the links won't actually line up? if so, what angle should my cams be at when I throw them back on? I am so screwed on this..... please help with any advice

If you don't know what you are doing, I wouldn't try it. You could severely damage your engine. The links won't line up with the cams unless you turn in many MANY times. I seriously doubt that it jumped teeth. Why are you doing this? Did you have a head gasket issue or tripping a crank position sensor code? If you have already taken the chain off without marking the chain and cams then your best bet is to take the entire timing cover off and be sure that the crank sprocket and cam sprockets are properly lined up with the colored links on the chain. I would like to help you out more but I need more information on what the problem is.
