well im completely stumped.

before i explain what's going on let me fill you in on what ive done.

First i have an 89 pathinder with v6(vg30i) the one with the throttlebody

last year i had to rebuild the engine, new pistons, rings, and had head's rebuilt by a shop. I went step by step, and engine runs great. The one step i didnt do was the timing once it was in the car. I had a "mechanic friend" who did it for me, and since then it's ran great.

So now my PROBLEM
This weekend I finally got me a timing lite(reason i didnt time it originally), and WHAM....no Marks. I sat there for a few minutes scratching my head, then got under vehical, and flashed light, and BINGO... there were the timing marks almost 180 out.

so what the hell is going on and how do i fix this? From my understanding it should not run, but like magic, it does. How do i fix this?

ok, just thought i would fill everyone in on what was wrong.

Seems the dampner(pulley with timing marks on it) is not keyed to crankshaft. this basically means that when i bolted it on(when i rebuilt), i didnt line it up correctly(you would think they would key this thing). so if you rebuild a vg30, or do timing belt, make sure you mark the damner, or when your are at TDC that you install with the marks at 12-oclock.
