I am currently in the process of rebuilding my 96 KA engine, it had quite a few miles on it to begin with, but it was one heck of a deal when i got the car.

anyway, i am quite close to putting the engine all back together and into the car, however i lost the top timing guide, ive read around and seen that nissans TSBs (tech. service. bulletins) said that it was no longer necessary, which is great being that ive lost that part, however i havent lost the "upper side" guide, and i am wondering if i should remove that as well do to the fact if it does cause clicking i will have to remove the timing cover again later.

so my question is, is it "sanctioned" by nissan to remove both upper guides, or just the one that is on top?

I dont know what the correct procedure is, but I know the top guide is what killed the DE I bought... half of it was laying under the valve cover.
