hey guys i myself have been building and tuning cars for years but never nissans so i never had to deal with the timing issues ecu presents. most cars that i worked on had either a crank position sensor using 30-1 or 60-2 teeth or a hall effect sensor with single or 4 slots for spark firing.

well with the nissan i am aware that it uses a 360 slot disk in the distributor to get its 4 timing points but this presents a problem to me. since there is 360 points and monitoring the signal line its only shows a constant voltage to wich cannot be used to show a firing mark on many standalone or piggy back systems other than the aem and greddy units.

now the reason i ask is because i dont want to go the standalone route but i would like to use a different manufactorers piggyback system but i need to over come this timing issue.

any idea's would be helpful, ive got some wacky ones that may work but i want to hear yours.

i am aware of the aem ems, greddy units and all the reporgrammed ecus that are available i just want to see if we can make this a broader field.

does the Crankshaft Position sensor send 2 different signals? I know it sends a refrence signal for the 360 notches but I thought there was an additional signal for the 4 larger notches on the disk that passes through the magnet. when my distributor went bad the mechanic that looked at it told me it was sending one of the two signals but not the other. Am I just confused? here's a wiring diagram for the distributor on a 93' 240sx. I thought the white and black/white wires sent one signal apiece. a constant voltage for the 360 degree marks then a different signal for each of the 4 marks as well.

[edit] I'll have to tear apart one of my distributors when I get home but I was certain it had a different refrence signal that it sent [/edit]

i thought the cam angle sensor was used for timing, or does it depend on the year of ka24de?

depends on year. on the S13's and early S14's (w/ external coil) there is no cam angle sensor. just a crank position/angle sensor inside the distributor.
