Need to fix your wastegate problem first. Then if you stay at the 7-8psi your stock timign is ok. After that you need to get a btm or ecu/piggyback. you could also turn your distributor to retard it. But you need to fix your wastegate first. How in the h3ll did your engine not go poof? Have you done any research what so ever? What is your setup?

You shouldnt need to retard the timing if you do the following.......

1. Run low boost at all times.2. At times you run high boost, make sure your A/F is RICH! And I mean REAL RICH.

Because of detonation issues. Plus you're on a stock engine. You dont want to shatter a piston do you? or bend a rod do you?

safe would be 11.0-11.5.............no need to run richer than that........and yes u could also use an msd btm to control timing.

I live dangerous running 12-12.5 Hey it's mine.......But 11.5 is good safe number to aim for decent power and safe.

Seriously, if you retard base timing, you will be seriously disappointed with your power. Also, if you were to pull just 1 degree per pound, you would be at correct base at 7 pounds, but -7 at idle. Leaving lights would be lackluster. (A little alliteration makes the lesson linger longer - HA!)
