Timing cog? If I am not mistaken, isn't that cog that half-moon shaped piece located on the crank? Or is it the timing belt sprocket?

The latter I'm pretty sure.

Miine was stuck on too so I just heated it up a bit and then kept taping it around with a small hammer and them she gave and slid right off. I know how you feel though. You want to take the pistons out but a stupid little gear is setting you back. Good luck mate!

mine was pretty stuck there too. a lot of ppl on the aussie forums end up chiseling it and cracking it to get it off.

I used 2 big flat head screw drivers and just kept prying at it until it came off... good luck w/ it. get some lube on there and go at it.. worst case you're gonna have to get a replacement.

I got mine off, this way,

At least on the RB25DET it wasnt hard for me either, there are those two notches that stick out on the crankshaft, you can actually lightly tap those down to get the slot in that cogwheel to slide through it, these are the two notches or extrusions i was talking about,

You can see both of them on the crank snout .

mine was stuck prertty good to those keys. they are actually removable and will give a little when you're trying to pull off the sprocket.

basically use something small and push back on the key while prying forward with the screwdrivers. i bought new replacement keys (like $1 a piece or so?) just in case.

I used two screw drivers. Spray it down with some PB blaster, leave over night, then heat it up and use the screw drivers.

Mine was stuck too. I used screw drivers, pb blaster, heat, and tapped it and bent the grade 8 bolts trying to get it off. The easiest way is to drill a series of holes above the keyway. When the hole is large enough that it enters the keyway, hit the sprocket with a cold chisel between the teeth above the hole. It will crack like an egg. Only problem I ran into was the 6 month wait for the new one from RBmotoring.

Mine was stuck too, but then I came back next day and removed it with my hand and nothing else. It was great!

You know one of those three legged gear pullers can work too.

hahah! i dont think so man.....there just isnt enough room in there to slide a proper puller in there, best bet is to be nice to the nissan dealer and perhaps even leave a deposit on the tool so you will bring it back.

I don't know about everybody else, but I just pryed the outermost key out of the crankshaft with a screwdriver and the cog slid right off. Might have been really easy for me since it was about -6 over night and shrunk the metal??? I'm thinking I might want to get that thing back on the crank before it gets too warm though

i hate to bring this back from the dead, but we also had( or are having) trouble with our timing belt sprocket being stuck like crazy and was wondering if a replacement is readily available. also the washer behind it, does it cross reference as well?
