Ok, i have had this problem twice already (yesterday and just now). I time my motor so that it runs. It feels like its running slightly retarded tho. The reason I say that is because it feels like its just not quite as powerful as it can be. But anways, it would run just fine, but after driving it and turning it off, it won't start back up without adjusting the CAS.

what can the problem be?

also with the CAS cover facing you, would turning the gear right (clockwise) retard the timing?

If you can't start your car without adjusting the cas, your timing's probably way off. Use a timing gun to verify that you're at 15 BTDC

Make sure that you have the two CAS bolts tightened good. Don't overtighten them, though. Retapping aluminum is a PITA.

What I would do is reset the timing according to the FSM. which will set it back to 15 BTDC.http://www.store.yahoo.com/pha....html

If the car seems to be farting on you still, I would check the ECU to see if it's posting a faulty CAS code.

Another possibility is that the ignitor is beginning to go out and isn't transmitting a strong enough pulse to the coil packs.

I would try to get ahold of a known working CAS and ignitor and swap them in combinations to see if one of those two are affecting your ignition woes

better yet, dont use a timing light

as far as i know, retarding is to the right (toward back of motor), and advancing is to the left (toward front of car).

I'd rather use a timing light than to have to pull my CAS and reset it. I only mentioned the resetting method because he's already having a mess of timing problems.
