Hello Everyone, I'm new to the site.

I have recently bought a 1993 2wd P/up it has the KA24E in it.

I recently replaced the valve cover gasket, and I had noticed that the tensioner on the rightside, has missing pieces in it. It has a lot of slack on that side of the chain. I had been looking everywhere on how to change the timing chain. I have never done a chain before, I've done belts. This chain is new to me. Also, I have been looking and there are mixed advice on this. Does the chain need be replaced like a belt, or will it go on longer say 100.000 miles b4 changing. Any advice is apreciated, thank you in advance.

Welcome to NICO! I would personally replace it if I were you, along with the guides, tensioner, and seals while you're in there. With age, the chain gets stretched and might jump a tooth if left unchanged.

There is lots of info about this over on 240sx.org, in the installs and also the faq section. On here, look for a thread called "doing the timing chain, ran into a roadblock" or something to that effect. Lots of help there.

Link doesn't work, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's the actual TSB for the dealership. Good info there, but their method of dropping the pan seems harder than it needs to be.

I was amazed when they said it would take the dealer 5 hours to complete the job.... It took me like four times that long! :)
