timing chain tensioner

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

My timing chain tensioner won't pop out. Any suggetions. I couldn't find anything specific to the s14. Someone circle it and provide specific instructions please, it won't budge.

I just took the whole tensioner off, lol. I still can't get enough flex in the chain to take it off though.

you can't take out the chain even if you take out the tensioner, you'll have to take out 1 of the cam sprockets to be able to take out the upper chain.(BE SURE THAT YOU ARE ON TDC AND CHECK THE MARKS SO YOU DON'T LOOSE TIMING)

No trick to it really, that I can recall. I have an S13, but I just had to muscle the tensioner off a bit since it was kind of gummed on there. You can see in the picture posted here that there really isn't anything besides the bolts holding it on.

You can always gently persuade it with a few taps from a small hammer, although I wouldn't go totally medieval on it since it's easy to damage an aluminum head.
