timing chain tensioner 200sx turbo 99

does my model, without as yet having taken him apart, have a top timing chain guide ? i have heard that they get removed if a rattle occurs, by the Nissan technicians. also i have removed my tensioner and cleaned him up. he seemed awfully stiff. all nice and clean now and engine sounds better. can anyone pass any thoughts on the guide situ. when the tensioner was out and i was cleaning him up, i noticed score marks down the shaft of the toothed bit and wondered if this was wear, meaning that it wasn't performing properly. should i replace this part ? if so, where can i obtain this from other than Nissan as they charge lots ?
