so guys since i bought the car i could hear the timing chain rattle or tick and i seen that its a common problem with our vq35de, but lately i could hear it much more like from inside the car, so what is the problem is it the tensioner or the chain it self needs replacement.

How many miles on your vehicle? On the FWD VQ35DE engines, the issue was breakage of the plastic tensioner. Over a long period, then the chain could get stretched - but IIRC, some people just replaced the tensioners and the chain was still good.

That being said, the RWD platforms didn't seem to have the same issues. I have heard an early g35 rattle at start up but I chalked that up to it sitting for a long time. 310K on my qx4 and no rattle from the engine in my ownership. I have also torn down both an i35/Maxima engine and a qx4/Pathy engine, and I can attest that the tensioners used are different.

Not saying that its impossible, just that I don't think it's common for our SUVs to do it.
