OK after installing the head gasket and cams I put the chain back on the sprockets. before i removed the sprockets I marked a few places on the chain and the sprockets but after I rotated the crank 8 times the lines never lined back up. I have the oil pump cover off so i have easy access to the chain but no matter how I did the chain it always cam off timing. so what am i doing wrong here?

did you pull the front cover off and deal with the chain job that way?

well atfirst I didn't take the front cover off..i just marked the chain a few times on each sprocket, but after turning it over 8 times and noticing that the lines weren't matching together I then took the front cover off to mess around with it..Im still open to any options if anyone has any
