Ok, I bought a very cheap 240sx. I was told it had a head problem so I dug into it and found the timing chain guide was broken and had fallen into the oil pan, thus the chugging and inability to keep running. So I was a good boy and purchase a new timing kit. The only thing is that I do not know if I got a bad kit of what but I have been told that you are supposed to line 2 links that are different colors on the chain with the punched marks in the cam and crank gears. The only problem is there is only one different colored link. So I set the vehicle to tdc and installed the chain and gears semi blindly because I do not know where the other link is, but I do not want to reassemble everything and have it off a link or worse. Does anyone happen to know how many links there are from one gear to the other? Or even a way to time it precisley would help. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

alright, I feel like a moron but i got it. The chain I bought seriously only had one different colored link and I couldn't find them on the old chain. Then I wiped down the chain really good and found one of the links. I checked one side not knowing that the only put it on one side of the chain. I damn near polished it before I could see and The other link was there as well. So in case anyone else needs to know what the distance is on a ka24e timing chain, it is 21 links from mark to mark.
