I've been getting this rattle in my engine under the valve cover which sounds like its coming from tensioner. I think it has a lot oil gunk around it due to oil changes. I was wondering if this will damage your engine? Also, is this covered under warranty if I take it in to the dealership?

I have the same thing on my 04. Took it to a great dealer. The mechanic diagnosed it correctly. It will not hurt, 0 drive ability issues. But it may have long term issues. If you have < 60k on the ODM, it is covered by the warrenty. I have 45K on my car and will wait until I have 55 k and have it done for free. I like that! New parts for free. I may have them change the timing chain and water pump, if applicable, while they have it opened up. I will make sure I need an oil change. I'm sure they will try to hit you up for something. It is the chain guide and tensioner that aren't working properly, too tight tolerances. Any slight change and you get the noise. Hope this is helpful.
