timing chain rattle

i took my valve cover off and replaced the seal along with the spark plug seals i removed the top metal plate guide from the car threw it all back together and it only reduced about half of the rattle. ive been told there is another guide somewhere... can any one tell me where exactly its located and wat things ill have to take off to get to it? please and thanks

probably the one further down at the block side. Pull the cover off the front of the head and take a flash light down the front cover and see if anything else is busted or if pieces of that upper guide are floating about down below.

If you're still rattling after the top guide has been removed, it's probably time to replace the chain and tensioner. More than likely the chain has stretched slightly over years of abuse and now it's able to slap on the slack side chain guide. That's a sure sign of chain wear and it's only a matter of time before it really needs to be replaced.
