This is wierd. We just put in a new chain, gears, tensioner etc.91 240sx w/KA24de motor.Theres a sound coming from the timing cover almost exactly where the tensioner is. It rattles at about 1800-2000 rpm's Accel, decell right at 2000..Any thoughts ? Does it take a while for the tensioner to pump up with oil ?Ran it for about an hour total, Found a vacume leak, appears we have the wrong throw out bearing :o( but the rattle is staying constant ?

Any thoughts before I tear this thing apart again

Thanks Steve

My first thought is it could be two things 1) low oil pressure..Oil pickup, pump something along those lines. On the oil pickup there is a gaskget an oring where the pickup meets the pump at the timing chain cover. 2) did you remove the guides on the timing chain, could be hitting them.

remove the guides on the timing chain ??? There was a guide on top of the head we took off before we changed out the chain. It was banging against that one which we figured indicated slop in the chain which lead to the new chain kit.....now we got a new noise :o)

I'll pull that top cover off again and have a look.

Thanks Steve
