I checked my dipstick the other day and the results were bad. I could'nt belive that i let me car run like. I changed the oil with Valvoline High Mileage. I took it for a run and soon realized that my timing chain rattle was gone. The rattle used to come at around 2500 to 3000 rpm (cruising speed). It was very hard to avoid the rattle at that rpm. I always had to speed to keep it higher that 3000 rpm. Now all i hear are a few little clicks from the timing chain. THANKS GOODNESS

Could you describe a bit more precisely what your rattle sounded like? I have a rather noisy rattle on my car I'm worried about. The noise could be anything from an exhaust piece banging on something to rod knock. Describe yours please :)

My timing chain rattle is only audible at idle. Hope I can get it fixed before it causes problems. It sucks being broke.

I actually fixed my problem by switched to a very thick dyno oil, it will help keep oil pressure higher, keeping the tensioner tighter, keeping your chain from rattling on junk. I use Castrol 20W-50 and it keeps me in good shape.

The guides wear down and let the chain move back and forth - i've seen it to the point where it wears a hole through the cover and you need a new one of those too. -JinX
