I have done my fair share of searching. All I am able to find out is how the cams "look" when sitting right.

What I am wanting to find is I was to dumb and in a hurry to replace the headgasket, and yanked the chains off without MARKING them. Now in my repair manual I have one lousy pic which doesn't show me jack.

I was able to find a statement in one post, and no one ever acknowledged, and skipped over it because they were to busy wanting to know what cam was what.

The statement was mentioning the the chains ARE marked from factory. I need to know if this is true.. I have looked my chains over and have not "noticed" anything jumping out at me. I will have to clean them up and take a closer look, but until I am able to do so can anyone verify this info for me?

If this statement is NOT TRUE, can anyone tell me how I am able to line up the LOWER chain to the crank. I see the marks on the gears, just dont have a clue as to position. Same with the cam gears, sure I had my lobes pointing the right way, but the marks were not right.

So if anyone has any information relating to this problem. I am open for information. BTW 91' KA24DE

Not sure on the DE but generaly the "marks" consist of chain links that are a differant color then the rest of the links. I have seen lighter color links on "dark" chains, and dark links on "lighter" colored chains.

Note the the off color links may only be on one side of the chain so check both sides.

Hope this helps.

I want to thank you Vega for the input. I have not checked my chains yet. Due to the 4th and it being my wedding anniversary. I haven't had the time to check, but I did go look on FRsport.com and in their picture you can see the odd colored links. Even if mine don't, or if I can not clean the chain well enough to tell, I can just buy the kit. Thanks.

well like the other guy said there will be marks on the chain but that chain was put in that moter almost17yrsago so the marks might have worn off i would start with a new t-chain that is fresh and hase the marks on it as for lining it up on the crank sproket i feel really sorry for you its a lot of work the oil pan needs to come off then the secondary oil pan then you can see the lower crank sproket as for the cams when installed properly the intake side the lobe clsest to the sproket shoul face to ten o clock and exhaust should be toward 3 i hope this helps i have been though the same and i feel you
