timing chain question

I did the valve stem seals but then noticed I was a tooth off when lineing everything back up so I had to take the front timeing chain cover off but now I cant get it back on because the oil pump sits lower than the t-chin cover and as you know the oil pump is connected to the front cover. Anyone ever had to do this before. I just dont want to have to pull the head if there is a trick to doing this. I dont want to have to take the bottom end off because it would mean I would have to take the trans out just to get to two bolts. What are my options besides the obvious?
