Just wondering...is there a difference in the timing chain for the S13 and S14 DOHC engines? What if using S13 cams in the S14 engine/head? Then would the S13 chain kit be appropriate?

Just wondering. I have an engine sitting on a stand about to go in my car and someone recently told me there was a difference. I already installed the S13 chain kit on this S14 engine with S13 cams.

Thanks!

You need a DOHC timing chain kit.

Yeah, I got that...I'm just asking if there's a difference between early and late model DOHC timing chains.

they didn't till 98, on 98 they changed to single row chains.(i believe it was only 98, 97 havin double row still)

91-97 all chains should be the same.

yer good to go, me and my friend have done such thing(my S13 has S14 head S13 cams, his S14 has S13 head, S13 cams S14 block)

EXACTLY the information I needed to hear!

There's nothing like having a fully built engine sitting on a stand and ready to go then thinking, "I wonder if that's the right chain?"

hehe, Thanks!
