has any ever heard of a timing chain break or snap in a ka before. And my tensioner is going out because when i start up the engine when it is cold it would rattle for 2 seconds and then it would build pressure and then it would sound fine. Should i replace just the tensioner or should i just do my whole timing kit?

Replace it all if you're going to be in there anyway.

exactly what the last guy said! if youre gonna be in there anyways it only makes sense to go ahead and change out everything so then there wont be another problem for a while.

the chiltons manual is pretty detailed....i just got done with mine, i pick up a timeing set and gaskets for about 100 bucks. I did manage to take the timing chain cover off withou removing the oil pan....i just removed the four bottom bolts and and gently pryed it loose comin out as strait as possible...plus nows a good time to replace your broken chain guide..caue if its rattleing..im sure thats not helping either...the new OEM replacement set has all that stuff.....tensioner, tension rod, guide and sprockets. the gasket set(SEPERATE) had oil pump seals and front seal
