for a little while now i could hear my timing chain rattle but not bad enough to be concerned.

to the other night i got in fired the car up and started f*****g around in a parken lot. (stupid my not let it warm up sum) so after messing around i drive off and start hearing a knocking kind of sound.

the sound goes away when i accel but when i start to let off the knock comes along. it's like right at the peak of letting off. you cant realy hear it when your off the gas and coasting.

i have pulled the valve and upper timing chain cover and the slack wasnt that bad on the front chain.

so do you guys think its timing chain or a bearing?

if its knocking then my best guess would be a rod bearing. either you had low oil or the pressure is low. if you had low oil then maybe the engine starved a little and burnt the bearing.

have you removed the chain guide? there was some sort of a recall on the guide(s) on the ka24de, in which nissan said these were not necessary. i removed mine about 10,000 miles ago and have had no problem.
