any ideas??

i already know that almost all sohc 90 240s have timming chain problems

is this noise the timing,slipped tooth,ignition problems,fuel related,or combo

if it is the chain, had long do you think previous owner drove around like that for it to get that bad

or can the guides just break with one hard slap of the chain?are they broke from pic shots?

did compression test 180psi across the boardIgnition is finefuel is fine (might be rich?)

Your timing chain has ate through the right ride chain guide that was from the factory, all plastic. Now the chain is riding against the water passage on the engine's front cover that leads to the water pump. Myne was doing the same and nearly reached the water! I decided to go HC head swap and when doing so I found a bunch of plastic in my oil pan!

um.. it sounds like its misfiring..check spark plug wires one by one (pull them off while engine is running.. )also.. the timing chain/guides MUST be replaced...

and for the peace of heart, i would consider replacing the front cover too... (hell if you pay for the shipping ill send you an extra front seal i got lol)

heres a link for ya... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

if you dont take the time to do it right.. when will you find the time to do it again?...

I don't see or hear any definitive problems with the timing chain. The guide appears to be intact, though I can only see the very top. It's normal for it to be loose while the engine is stopped because the tentioner is operated by oil pressure. It's hard to make very much of the noise it makes while running. Can you do another video and walk around the car/engine with it running so I can get a feel for where it's coming from and hear what it sounds like better?
