Timing Chain Noise: Top Rail Is Only Half The Problem

The chain raddle in my s13 was way louder than normal so i knew something more severe was wrong. I opened it up and this is what i found. Their was a lot of wear and tear on the valve cover and to the head. The local mechanic said it wasnt that big of a deal but luckily i didnt listen to him. Still raddles like i expected. But at least now its just normal timing chain raddle. Im going to have to do the timing chain cleaning thread or just replace the whole thing. gears and all. if you have the same problem their is a good step by step here in nico. zerothread/105618[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Happened to this 93 altima that came in to my shop. I removed all the upper guides and replaced upper chain tensioner as per TSB, no more noise. There's also updated lower guides but it wasn't necessary on that one.

a bulletin was relased on prosis about this because it is verry common... ANY kade is at the danger of this. most people catch it before it gets too serious but it has the potental of destyroying your motor...
