before my car warms up i get a rattle coming from the timing chain cover area so i was wondering if it is lubricated just like the rest of the engine or does it run dry? also might be my valves/cams but i'll retorque those when i finally have some time to replace my vc gaskets.

Chains stretch, tensioners lose tension, sprockets wear, and chain guides wear................noise increases with mileage and from oil change abuse.

If the noise bothers you replace the worn components.
