I'm hearing slapping when I first fire up the engine. After warming up, 98% of the sound dies down.should o go back with an oem kit from my local dealer? It's not rod knock. Trust me I've thrown several parts through oil pans due to junk yard motors that developed rod knock.

There are cheaper oem nissan chain kits out there than the dealer. Maybe try just replacing the tensioner first. Is this a KA24DE engine?

Yes it is. Just changed the chain, guides and tensioner about 4,5 months ago. You could squeeze the old chain. It was stretched. These parts came from AutoZone. Bad idea I guess. The Noise isn't bad at all after it warms up. But when I first crank it up for the first time everyday..man it sounds like a small f250 at ideal.. like I said the noise goes away after it warms up. I just need to get it done soon because I'm ready to add my turbo. Bottom ends been built for a few years now.

It very well could be. I'm gonna take it to a shop that builds motors

if you do end up getting a new timing chain kit, FRsport has one for the KA basically half off. much cheaper than what dealership prices would be
